Questions to ask real estate agent

Buying a house is a big deal. Hence it is important to know the property very well. To assist you with this, there are some questions that you should ask the real estate agent.

  • First and foremost, the reason why house is being sold. Ask the agent why is the owner selling the house. This could potentially help you to get a good price.

  • The next thing you want to check with the agent is how old the house is and what renovation work is done if any. These will help you understand if the house needs any work and/or the renovation work done were council approved or not?

  • Check how long the house has been on sale for. If it has been over a month, dig up to find why it is not sold yet.

  • Ask the agents about the appliances and major systems. How old are they. Were they services regularly?

  • There is a lot more to a house than what your eyes can see. It is a good idea to have the house inspected by qualified plumbers and electricians for any faults. You can ask for a strata or building report to be super safe.

  • Check on the running costs like typical utility bills and council rates.

  • If you are at all interested in the house, ask for section 32. If you have a conveyancer, which we strongly suggest you should if you are looking to buy a house, run it pass them.

It is important that you keep the emotions aside when buying a property. It can be difficult, but it does help you to make an informed decision. Do not let your heart rule your head when you are buying a house.
